Rover Spirit Finds Evidence of Pyroclastic Activity on Mars
Posted on May 11, 2007 at 11:37:45 pm
A plateau on Mars known as Home Plate was likely the site of explosive volcanic activity, say scientists. And data collected by the rover Spirit also offers further evidence that water was once present at or beneath the planet's surface.

Discovery indicates that violent explosions of extremely massive stars were relatively common in the early universe, and that a similar explosion may be ready to go off in our own Galaxy.
Has SOHO Finally Found Solar Ripples After A 30 Year Quest?
Posted on May 06, 2007 at 05:49:02 pm
The ESA-NASA Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) may have glimpsed long-sought oscillations on the Sun's surface. The data will reveal details about the very core of our central star and it contains clues as to how the Sun formed, 4.6 billion years

Mars Rover Finds Evidence Of Ancient Volcanic Explosion
Posted on May 04, 2007 at 10:46:43 am
NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Spirit has discovered evidence of an ancient volcanic explosion at "Home Plate," a plateau of layered bedrock approximately 2 meters (6 feet) high within the "Inner Basin" of Columbia Hills, at the rover's landing site in Gus
Ice On Mars Is Patchy And Variable, According To Scientists
Posted on May 03, 2007 at 11:02:03 am
For the first time, scientists have found that water ice lies at variable depths over small-scale patches on the Red Planet. The discovery draws a much more detailed picture of underground ice on Mars than was previously available.
